Right Start Ministries started over 40 years ago with Pastor Jim Custer producing and then delivering the broadcast to local radio stations. Today, Right Start can be heard across Ohio and Northern Kentucky, and anywhere in the world as a free podcast. Right Start is a ministry of the Grace Polaris Church of Columbus, Ohio, committed to excellence in communicating biblical truth and its application to the daily lives of our listeners.
Pastor Jim Custer
Pastor Jim has served at Grace Polaris Church (formerly the Grace Brethren Church of Columbus, Ohio) since 1968. Over those years he has shared oversight of the church’s ministries and helped launch the Grace Brethren Christian Schools, Worthington Christian High School, the Theological Practicum, and two missions boards. Many people throughout Ohio and beyond recognize Pastor Jim’s voice from the Right Start daily radio broadcast, which has aired for more than 45 years.
Pastor Jim graduated with academic honors from Grace College (BA) and Grace Theological Seminary (MDiv), and later earned the Master of Theology degree. In 1991, Grace Theological Seminary conferred upon him the Doctor of Divinity (DD) degree.
He loves to study and teach the Bible, especially the prophetic passages that outline God’s plan for the future. With his wife Triceine, he has led 34 tours to Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Greece, and Rome, and together they have a deep passion for Gospel evangelism. Jim and Triceine are the parents of two sons and a daughter and have ten grandchildren.

Right Start Ministries teaches in harmony with the historic statement of faith of the Charis Fellowship (formerly the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches):
- The Bible — the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments — verbally inspired and without error as originally given.
- One true God, existing eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- The Lord Jesus Christ — His deity, virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and coming return.
- Salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone, and a life of righteousness lived by the power of the Holy Spirit.
